This is a photo of the map on which all the convoys were tracked during the second world war. It's in the main control room in the cabinet war rooms, under the treasury and downing street. This room has remained untouched since the end of the second world war, apart from the addition of some plastic men, who are very busy and important. The map here contains thousands of pinholes, each of which represented the position of a convoy. The general distributions and convoys routes can be inferred from the density of holes, and is a reminder of the lifeline that existed between the UK and US during the war.
