The next day we accompanied Greeny to pick up his new fishing boat, Wildebeest. This was an excellent opportunity for us to witness the strange way in which Abu Dhabi works, or doesn't work as the case may be - a long day of frustration and miscommunication, but finally someone was found to tow the boat to the water, and here she is on her maiden voyage. The first picture is me, Captain Greenman, Daniza and Tim, some really nice friends of Greeny's who let us stay in their lovely flat for the week. There were supposed to be away for the whole time we were there, but luckily for us we got to meet them when (unluckily for them) Daniza was arrested and thrown in jail with the prostitutes when they tried to leave the country for their holiday, over a visa/passport issue which was sorted out a few days later and they made it out on the second attempt.
The second photo is of Greeny giving us his best pirate "aarrrrgh", then the obscenely expensive marble mosque being built by the Sheikh in honor of his father, and Johnny sporting his new haircut (finally!) Lastly is an example of the crazy huge mansions we cruised past along the shore, including this one complete with a large obtrusive construction which appeared to be for shading the yachts and blocking the view of the water from the house. weird!
